Unresponsive Links in Tapper app for iPhone Users Follow
A feature of iOS (version 12.2 and above) prevents users from following a link within a linked page that is set to open in a new tab or window. That is, if your Tapper app links to a page that has additional links for users to click on, the additional links will be unresponsive if they open a new tab. In other words, app users may not be able to follow the additional links within your Tapper app.
For example, the bottom button of the screenshot on the left links to the CardTapp "Press" site but an iPhone user cannot follow the article link on the right after visiting the site through the Tapper app since it opens "Markets Insider" in a new tab:
Many links will work fine on iPhones, but links that are set to open a new tab are restricted. Links that don't try to open a new browser tab or window will open within the Tapper app without issue. Otherwise, links will not respond. The two options to work around this iOS security restriction are:
- Edit the HTML code for the links on the website so links do not open new tabs or windows.
- Create buttons with URLs for the destination pages you want accessible in your app instead of landing pages with navigation links that do not open in your app.
