NFC Programming

Share your app and expand your network anywhere and anytime, even without your phone.

Updated over a week ago

The Cardtapp native app allows Members to program NFC chips with ease. With just a few simple steps, you can share your app using NFC-enabled stickers, cards, keychains, and more.

NFC programming is only available through the Cardtapp native app on mobile devices. NFC cannot be programmed from the Cardtapp desktop dashboard.

Note: Unless your NFC-enabled chip is single-use, it is recommended to also use a third-party NFC tool app. Once the process is complete, use the NFC tool app to "lock" the NFC chip or set it to "read only" so that it cannot be rewritten.

1. Log in to your Cardtapp native app.

2. Click the "Program NFC Card" button.

3. Select a Cobranding partner (if desired) from the dropdown menu.

If you don't want to share a partnered personalized Cardtapp app, you can move on to the next step. If you'd like to learn more about cobranded partners, you can click here.

Using an NFC-enabled card or another item is great for referral situations. For example, a realtor who is partnering with a mortgage lender or a pet groomer who is partnering with a dog walker. Partners do not need to be Cardtapp Members; they only need to be a Member's registered Contact with the "Partner" tag. You can learn more about tags here.

4. Hold your NFC card near the back of your device.

5. Click the "Program NFC Card" button.

Your NFC card or item is now ready to share. Any device that supports NFC scanning when near your NFC card or tag will automatically open the URL associated with your personalized Cardtapp app.

Tip: If your phone isn't reading the NFC card or item, make sure NFC is turned on in your device settings.

6. Share your app anywhere, even when you don't have your phone.

Keep your NFC card in your wallet, attach an NFC keychain to your bag, or place an NFC sticker on your desk; the options are endless.

Once a Contact scans the programmed item, they will be sent to your personalized Cardtapp app and prompted to register and install your app!

Note: Most Android devices will automatically open the URL as long as NFC scanning is toggled on in a Contact's device settings; however, iPhone users may have to wait for a prompt to open the link.
